When Teagasc approached us, the brief was clear. Their new extension at Johnstown Castle, Wexford required a conference table capable of seating 25 people while supporting a variety of meeting and training formats.
Rather than selecting a standard boardroom table, they wanted a solution designed specifically for the space, the technology requirements and the way the room would be used.
Understanding the Brief
Every successful bespoke project begins with understanding how a space functions.
Following an initial site visit, we met with the Teagasc team to discuss their requirements, how the room would be used on a day-to-day basis and the finishes they envisioned for the completed piece.
These early conversations are a vital part of our process, allowing us to develop a solution tailored to the client’s needs rather than asking them to adapt to a standard design.
Within weeks, the design had been finalised and approved, allowing manufacture to begin.
A Design Built Around Function
The final design featured a distinctive V-shaped conference table finished in American walnut.
The shape was carefully considered to improve sight lines throughout the room, making it easier for participants to see both each other and the presentation screen positioned at the end of the space. Curved outer edges further enhanced visibility and created a more inclusive meeting environment.

One of the most important elements of the design was flexibility.
The wider end of the table incorporates a removable section that can be taken away when the room is being used for training. This creates a central space where a trainer can move freely and work directly with participants during breakout or one-to-one sessions.
By integrating this feature into the design from the outset, the room can comfortably support multiple uses without compromising the appearance or functionality of the table.

Integrating Technology Seamlessly
Modern meeting spaces require more than just seating capacity.
Integrated power and data connection modules were incorporated into the table, allowing users to charge devices and connect directly to the room’s AV systems.
Cabling is discreetly routed from a floor box into the table’s modesty panel and through integrated cable management channels beneath the surface. This approach keeps connections accessible while maintaining a clean, uncluttered appearance.
From Design to Installation
A significant factor in securing this commission was our ability to deliver a completely tailored solution within a demanding timeframe.
Because we manage every stage of the process in-house—from briefing and design through to manufacture and installation—we can maintain control over quality, communication and delivery schedules.
The result is a streamlined process that allows us to respond quickly, adapt when required and deliver bespoke furniture that performs exactly as intended.
The Finished Result
The completed conference table combines craftsmanship, functionality and flexibility in a single piece.
Designed specifically for the space and the people using it, it demonstrates the value of bespoke furniture in creating environments that work efficiently today while remaining adaptable for future needs.
For organisations looking beyond standard furniture solutions, projects like this show what can be achieved when design begins with understanding how a space is actually used.
